A disturbing case has emerged in Waukesha County as Daniel Hait, a 63-year-old Oconomowoc man, faces 23 felony charges, including second-degree sexual assault of a child, possession of child pornography, and sexual exploitation of a child.
According to the Oconomowoc Enterprise, Hait allegedly used hidden cameras to record children in homes he owned in New Berlin and Delafield.
The investigation began after a search warrant was executed on Aug. 13 at Hait’s Delafield residence. During the search, police found an iPad containing ten videos of an exposed child, spanning from 2021 to 2023, when the victim was between the ages of 15 and 17.

The criminal complaint also mentions “multiple other images and videos existed in this download.” Another victim claimed that Hait had sexually assaulted him between 50 and 100 times from the age of 9 or 10 through 18. A third victim reported discovering two hidden cameras in Hait’s residence during their teenage years.
If convicted, Hait faces significant penalties, including fines up to $100,000 and up to 40 years in prison for the single count of second-degree sexual assault.
Additionally, he could face $10,000 and 3.5 years for exposing a child to harmful material, $100,000 and 25 years for each of the 10 counts of possession of child pornography, and $100,000 and 40 years for each of the 11 counts of sexual exploitation of a child.
The case is still under investigation, and Hait’s cash bond has been set at $250,000.
