The Richfield Famers market is so much more than your average farm stand or walk through. It is bustling with everything that makes Richfield great. Each Saturday, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., the market hosts fabulous food, talented artists, and showcases so many of the things that make the community great. Located at the Richfield Nature Park (1896 State Road 164), it’s become a can’t miss event for those near and far.
Last Saturday, June 28, the farmers market had some one of a kind offerings for those who stopped by. Stone Silo Farms was one of the most popular booths upon opening, as guests flocked to pick up bags and half bushels of fresh Georgia peaches. In the shaded pavilion on the hall, live music was performed by The Portabella Fellas, a local band who are known for their blend of folk and rock music. Two food trucks were also parked nearby, including Matteo’s Food Truck and Shorty’s Grilled Cheese. Matteo’s, based in Jackson, uses its food truck to bring tasty tacos and other flavorful Mexican cuisine across the area. Shorty’s has an impressive menu of high quality, original grilled cheese sandwiches including their take on a Cubano, the Sconnie (Which has beer brats and muenster cheese), and daily specials.
Germantown’s Enchanted Mobile Library was also present. This trailer brings all kinds of enjoyable activities for the whole family. Books for all ages were available to select from carts, crafts and activities were aplenty, and it helped create a sense of wonder. They even had a poll that tallied peoples’ favorite genre of books.
The highlight of the Richfield Farmers Market is the local craftsmen, artists, and creators who help make the day unforgettable. Simply Sourdough and Co. has some of the best homemade loaves, and were sampling their new sesame dark rye butter crisps. Silver Maple Farms had an abundance of veggies like lettuce and radishes, but also had fresh eggs, chicken, and lamb cuts for sale. Pleasant Valley Treats, offering healthy, freeze dried treats for pets, had a deal on healthy snacks for pets, offering a buy one get one deal.
For those unsure of how to spend a beautiful summer Saturday, the Richfield Farmers Market can’t be beat!
