January 22, 2025

Amidst the frigid weather in Wisconsin this week, the Lake Country DockHounds have announced a chili and soup cook off on Saturday, March 15. The ticketed event will allow guests to sample various warm soups and chilis, then cast their vote for their favorite.

The event will also feature live music, giving attendees a chance to enjoy live music before spring arrives in Wisconsin. Refreshments will also be available, ranging from draft beers to fan-favorite Bloody Marys.

Several locals cooks will be offering up their best chilis and soups for guests to taste.

Southwestern Wisconsin is known for its vibrant culinary scene. Especially during the cold winter months, restaurants become popular gathering places because of their cozy atmospheres. The chili cook off is a great way to savor some of the best local cuisine while also connecting with family and friends to sample new and unique twists on a popular dish.

The event will also allow guests to vote for their favorite chili. This exciting aspect makes the experience special for the entire family, as it both makes room for a variety of tastes and sparks up fun conversations for everyone involved.

The profits earned from the cook out will help sponsor the LC DockHounds foundation which provides “scholarships to local athletes and aspiring sports industry students”. Tickets are $15 each, and include samples of several chilis and soups, the opportunity to vote on favorites, and space to enjoy live music performances.

The Lake Country DockHounds have been playing in Oconomowoc since 2022. They are a part of the American Association of Professional Baseball’s East Division. Their home stadium is the Wisconsin Brewing Company Park, which was built in 2021. The DockHounds had their first winning season in 2024, winning fifty-three of their one hundred games. 2024 also marked the first year in which the team participated in the playoffs, although they lost to the Kane County Cougars after only two games.

The LC DockHounds Foundation has worked alongside the team to strengthen the lake country community. Events such as the chili cook off help give back to locals by providing opportunities for youth and families, funding grants, and offering mental wellness programs.

The chili cook off will take place between 11-4. The event is set to be held inside the club level of Wisconsin Brewing Company Park. The event is an exciting way for Wisconsinites who are eager for summer to warm up with tasty food and get excited for the upcoming baseball season.
