On Saturday, February 15 the Milwaukee Wave, an indoor Major Arena Soccer League team, will help support the Hartland-Lakeside Education Foundation. This Foundation directly helps the Hartland-Lakeside School District. All tickets purchased here will help support the Foundation, which aims to give children in the school district better resources and opportunities. The soccer game will be held at the UWM Panther Arena at 6:05 p.m. The Milwaukee Wave will face off against the Texas Outlaws.
The game is also special for families of the Lake Country Dance youth team. 20 minutes before the game begins, at 5:45 p.m. the Lake Country Dancers will head onto the field to perform. In addition to this pre-game show, they will also perform once more during the third quarter’s Lights Out Dance Party. For many Lake Country Dance team members and their friends and family, this is an incredibly special experience. It allows for the team to show off its passion and dedication to dance before a whole new audience and in an arena that is a beloved part of Wisconsin history.
The Wave game will also look a little bit pinker than usual. Although the team typically touts yellow and black jerseys, keen eyed fans may notice extra shades of pink and orange in the jerseys worn on Saturday. The match is serving as the team’s ‘Breast Cancer Awareness Night’. In order to raise awareness of the risks of breast cancer and as a way to honor those who have struggled with it, the team will be rocking pink. The event is being sponsored by Midwest Orthopedic Specialty Hospital. The first 500 fans to arrive at the game will also receive pink Milwaukee Wave t-shirts. An auction for several of the Wave’s special pink uniforms is being held as well, which will conclude at the end of the game.
The evening will be memorable for many within the Hartland-Lakeside School District. For those able to attend the game, it will be a fun way to spend time with family and friends amidst a cold and snowy winter weekend. Even more than this, the impact of the fundraiser could make a big difference within the school district. With ticket sales helping the Hartland-Lakeside Education Foundation, the group is better able to help improve the school district’s community. According to the group, their goals include “Promoting connection and unity through school and community events, supporting our teachers, staff, and district through volunteerism, and enriching education through the awarding of annual grants.” For those connected to either the School District or the Lake Country Dance team, it is sure to be an unforgettable evening.
