The Oconomowoc Scholarship Fund has put out a call for any and all high school seniors living in the Oconomowoc Area School District to apply. The OSF is seeking two and four year scholarship applications. There are dedicated awards for high school seniors who are seeking to major in either music, fine arts, theater, international relations, or engineering. Applications for the fund close on March 1, and as that deadline quickly approaches, the group has made several calls for students to apply.

The OSF has several different types of funding options including:

  • $12,000 – Paid at $3,000 per year ($1,500 per semester) for a four-year program
  • $3,000 – Paid at $1,500 per year ($750 per semester) for a two-year program at a technical college
  • $5,000 – A one-time George Andrew Markham Award for a student who pursues a degree in music, theater or art.

The Oconomowoc Scholarship Fund has become a passionately maintained resource for young people in the Oconomowoc Area School District. The Fund is a nonprofit, entirely composed of charitable donations. Its purpose is simple yet powerful: To allow students a chance at financial aid so that they are able to further their education. This Fund seeks to directly impact the community in a positive, long-lasting way.

In fact, the Oconomowoc Scholarship Fund has a long history in the area. Its deep roots and plentiful impacts date all the way back to 1947. Founded by a local newspaper man, C. W. Brown was the editor of the Oconomowoc Enterprise and owned a local printing company. His passion for knowledge and his dedication to his community encouraged him to bring together a multitude of locals who shared his values. Together, the group created the Fund. 78 years after its inception, the Fund carries on Brown’s legacy and commitment to excellence. A board of community members have stepped up to help give generations of high school seniors the opportunity to achieve success.

In 2024, the OSF funded scholarships to 18 different recipients. Between them, they received roughly $191,000. Throughout the Fund’s history, they have awarded a total of 696 scholarships to separate applicants. In total, the organization has provided students with $3.8 million in financial aid. Interested high school seniors are encouraged to apply before the deadline to participate in the community’s legacy of higher education.
