Located right on the water front of Pewaukee Beach’s Wisconsin Avenue, Beach Bum Bakery offers an array of delicious desserts. In summer, their lakefront position allows them to serve beach goers all day long. However, during the winter months, the boutique bakery uses its creative chops to keep customers coming back for more. This week, their pie themed Pi Day cupcakes are offering up a scrumptious new way to celebrate the mid-March holiday.

Beach Bum Bakery offers a fantastic selection of homemade goods, ranging from cookies to brownies to special weekend donuts. Their key to success is rotating their menu to offer a broad, unique selection of tasty treats. Each week, the bakery offers a different variety of flavored cupcakes. In honor of Pi Day, their talented bakers have come up with a fun twist for the math centered holiday.

Pi Day falls on March 14 of each year, as the date matches the first three digits of the mathematical pi, 3.14. While many bakeries will celebrate the holiday by offering traditional twelve inch pies, Beach Bum has changed the narrative. Owner Sarah commented on this choice, stating “Our cupcakes and cookies are really what we’re known for!” Although the bakery offers pies around Thanksgiving and Christmas, it is not something they serve year round. Their cupcakes are something that customers seek out all year long.

Six different pie themed flavors of cupcakes will be offered through Friday. The flavors include Boston Cream pie, Caramel Apple pie, Chocolate French Silk pie, Key Lime pie, Cherry pie, and Lemon Meringue pie. The bakery tried to stick to some of the more traditional pie flavors while also incorporating customer favorites. “The Boston creme pie and Key Lime pie cupcakes are popular all year long. Whenever we sell them, they’re a hit.” Says Sarah. “But my personal favorite is the French Silk. The chocolate mousse on it is to die for.”

Fans of the Pi Day cupcakes only have through March 14th to get their hands on these treats, which are as sweet as they are stunning. Thankfully, Beach Bum offers a full lineup of different flavors every week, meaning that there will be plenty more flavors to try come next week. Rumor has it that they may be Girl Scout Cookie themed, so fans of the popular cookies may have to venture out to the lakeside bake shop.
