Four Wisconsin public hearings set with budget committee
March 19, 2025

Lake Country Tribune

(The Center Square) – The Wisconsin Joint Committee on Finance will hold four public hearings on the budget across the state.

The hearings will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day, beginning April 2 in the auxiliary gym at Kaukauna High School.

Those wishing to speak will be asked to fill out a form and then be added to a queue to testify. The committee co-chairs are Sen. Howard Marklein, R-Spring Green, and Rep. Mark Born, R-Beaver Dam.

“As Co-Chairs of the JFC, we invite you to provide comments and input,” Your feedback is an essential part of the budget process.”

The second hearing will be on April 4 at the exposition center at the Wisconsin State Fair Park in West Allis.

The third hearing will be on April 28 at Hayward High School while the fourth will be on April 29 at the Northcentral Technical College Center for Health Sciences in Wausau.

Individuals can also provide budget feedback on the committee’s website or via email at [email protected].

Born estimated that the budget proposed by Gov. Tony Evers includes $3 billion in tax increases while a fellow Republican called the proposal a “financial disaster.”

The proposal would spend down $4 billion of the state’s expected $4.3 billion surplus if it is enacted after having more than a $7 billion surplus last budget season, according to Wisconsin Policy Forum.
