Lake Country Classical Academy has denied students’ request to form a Turning Point USA chapter at the school.
The letter that denied the students’ request to form a chapter was signed by the school principal, Mrs. Margaret Hagedorn., the wife of Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice, Brian Hagedorn.
Former Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker announced that he had “reached out to several board member to get a [TPUSA] charter approved at LCCA”.
Mrs. Hagedorn graduated from Concordia University Wisconsin (CUW) with her master’s degree in education in 2008. CUW recently came under fire for also preventing students from forming a Turning Point USA chapter, although their decision was ultimately reversed.
In Hagedorn’s letter, she states that:
“Dr. Wozniak encouraged the students to consider how they might establish an internal LCCA club centered on similar civic and leadership goals, which would allow us to nurture these vital skills- public speaking, teamwork, and civic responsibility- within our own framework. This aligns seamlessly with our core philosophy and empowers students to lead in ways that strengthen our school culture. I’d be delighted to support this effort and connect the students with resources to get it off the ground.”
Hagedorn claimed that this does not represent a shift from the school’s values, but is instead committed to “steadfastly building a culture where students can pursue excellence without external dilutions.”
Lake Country Classical Academy is a Hillsdale College Member School, meaning that they utilize the classical Hillsdale College curriculum in its K-12 educational program.
Hagedorn wrote that she wanted the school to “Strive to maintain alignment with Hillsdale’s expectations”.
However, Hillsdale College has a connective history with Turning Point.
When Turning Point’s founder, Charlie Kirk, was publicly assassinated in late 2025, Hillsdale College was quick to respond.
Hillsdale College President, Dr. Larry Arnn, spoke at Kirk’s funeral and memorial service. He then awarded Kirk an honorary degree from the college, as well as claiming that he was setting up a scholarship fund for Kirk’s children.
The school currently offers chess club, National Jr. classical league, service club, hiking club, soccer, Lego club, theater, and MadScience.
