2025 marks the 27th year that CPKC has hosted its Holiday Train events. It runs from November 19 through December 21, making stops throughout Canada and the United States.
The event helps collect food donations and raise money that goes towards supporting food banks throughout the rail companies network. CPKC makes a monetary donation to the local food bank at every stop. They also encourage attendees to either bring food donations or make a fiscal donation if possible that goes towards supporting their community.
So far, the event has raised over its $26 million since it began operating in 1999 and has collected over 5 million pounds of food for communities.
The professional music acts play free concerts from the stage of the festively decorated stage. This year, some of the musical acts include the Barenaked Ladies, Smash Mouth, and Jade Eagleson.
The two artists who will take the stage while in Wisconsin are the New York based pop rock band American Authors and the R&B fusion singer Pynk Beard. The American Authors stated that the weeks they would be spending on the train would be “basically like a hometown tour for our singer [Zac Barnett]”. The train will also be in Minnesota after its stops in Wisconsin, and Minnesota is where Barnett is originally from.
“We are thrilled to send this beautiful train filled with lights and music to spread the joy of the season and proud to support the giving spirit of the holidays assisting people experiencing food insecurity. It’s incredible to see communities come together every year,” says CPKC CEO Keith Creel.
