Lake Country’s favorite baseball team, the DockHounds, are settling into one of their most successful seasons in team history.
2025 marks the Lake Country DockHounds’ fourth season as a part of the American Association of baseball. In 2022, their inaugural season was a bit of a rocky start. The team only ended up with 36 total wins and a less than stellar .36% winning record. The following year, that percentage jumped substantially to .46, and the team introduced manager Ken Huckaby to take over for former manager Jim Bennett. Last season was a milestone year, as in 2024 the team finally won a majority .53% of their games. They even made an appearance in the division championship series, though they lost both games against the Kane County Cougars.
This year, they’re holding onto the heat they earned last year. The DockHounds have steadily remained at the top of the East Division team standings. As of July 19, they have a whopping 36 wins with only 24 losses. They’re currently on a 6 game winning streak and have won 7 of their past 10 games.
On Thursday, July 17, pitcher Luke Hansel threw a complete game shutout. He was the first DockHounds pitcher to do so since July 20, 2022. Hansel, who is still a rookie for the team, has had tremendous success this season.
Hansel has also been named as one of the team’s 2025 All Stars. The DockHounds’ other All Stars include Brian Rey and Daunte Stuart. Last week, Rey was moved to the 7 day injured list, but his hard work is still an important part of the team’s success.
Between Stuart and Rey, the two have a total 17 HRs, with 12 for Rey and 5 for Stuart. They are also the teams RBI leaders, with Rey at 41 and Stuart at 30. Hansel is currently the team’s pitching leader, with a total of 7 wins under his belt.
This upcoming week will be test for the DockHounds, as the team hits the road. They will finish up the week in Chicago before playing a series of four more games in Sioux City. The Chicago Dogs have also had a successful 2025, and although they have the same number of wins so far this year, their winning percentage is lower than the DockHounds’.
If the DockHounds manage to stay on top, they’ll earn a big ‘Howl Yeah’ from fans.
