Last Thursday, March 27 marked the opening day for Major League Baseball, and on Monday, March 31 Wisconsin’s very own Milwaukee Brewers hosted their home opener at American Family Field. Although the Brewers have been off to a brief but bad start so far this season, baseball fans in Lake Country have something else to look forward to. Oconomowoc’s very own Lake Country DockHounds are preparing for their own opening day.

The DockHound’s first game of the 2025 season will unfortunately not be held in their home stadium. On Friday, May 9 the team will play the Chicago Dogs at their field in Rosemont, Illinois. Additionally, their second series of games will be held at at their opponent’s territory, playing a series of three games against the Milwaukee Milkmen between May 13 through 15. The Milwaukee Milkmen play in Franklin, Wisconsin, meaning that the most avid DockHounds fans will not have to travel far to catch this series.

The first game which will be held at the DockHounds’ very own Wisconsin Brewing Company Park will be on Friday, May 16. The game is scheduled to begin at 6:35 p.m., as the team will take on the Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks, hailing from Fargo, North Dakota. The game will feature an appearance from legendary former Brewers player Jim Gartner. Single day tickets went on sale last Thursday, March 27 at 10 a.m.

For the past few months, the DockHounds have been announcing the addition of several newly signed players. On March 24, the team announced that they would be welcoming Will Sandy to the team, who has spent the last two years with the professional organizations the LA Angels and the Washington Nationals. Only two days earlier, on March 21 they announced the addition of two new right hand pitchers, Chase Gockel and Jace Baumann.

For those eager to get to WBC Park before opening day, the DockHounds will be hosting their 3rd annual ‘DockHound Dash’. The race includes a free ticket to a DockHounds game this summer, gives runners the opportunity to cross the finish line on home plate, and is a great way for families to come together. The event will be held on April 13, giving eager baseball fans a glimpse into all of the DockHound fun yet to come this year.

Even when the Brewer games can be a swing and a miss, Lake Country residents always have the DockHounds to look forward to.
