The Lake Country DockHounds seem to be on the path to success. Halfway through June, the team has now officially been playing their 2025 season for just over a month. This past week, they finally jumped ahead of the Cleburne Railroads to nab the top spot in the American Association of Baseball’s East Division.
Amongst the six teams in the division, the DockHounds have earned the top spot after spending a few weeks stuck in Cleburne’s shadow. Halfway through June, the DockHounds have 18 total wins and only 14 losses. In the last ten games, they’ve won 6, only giving up 4. Of the 6 teams in the East Division, only half of them have maintained a winning record up through this point in the season.
The DockHounds are currently tied with the Railroaders for their total number of wins, as both have 18. However, Cleburne has suffered one more loss than Lake Country, landing them in a precarious position. However, this week looks promising. Their next two series of games are scheduled to be held at Wisconsin Brewing Company Park, giving the DockHounds a head start with their home field advantage.
The two teams facing off against them during this stretch are Lincoln Saltdogs and the Milwaukee Milkmen. Lincoln has had a rough run so far this season, with 20 losses under their belt thus far. They are currently in last place in the Western Division, and their last 3 games saw them on a losing streak. The Milwaukee Milkmen are ranked second to last place in the Eastern Division. They have also been on a losing streak in their last 4 games.
Despite these advantages, the Lake Country DockHounds still have some adjustments to make. Their has been a noticeable shakeup in the roster, as on Friday, June 13 the team announced ahead of its game against the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks that Luis Aviles had been loaned to Tigres de Quintana. The Tigres are a professional baseball team in the Mexican League based in Cancun, Mexico. Before the loan, Aviles had hit two homers and scored several times for the DockHounds. As the team repositions to make up for the infielders absence, they will have to make adjustments for success.
