As summer comes to an end, the iconic Kiltie Drive-In in Oconomowoc is preparing to close its doors for the season. Known for its brats, burgers, and famous custard, The Kiltie has been a beloved local spot since the 1940s.
According to WISN, The Kiltie was originally built shortly after World War II and has been serving the community for decades, tucked away on East Wisconsin Avenue.
Manager Hannah Roraff shared some insights with WISN about the daily operations at the drive-in, saying, “I’m actually here at 9 a.m. every day. I start doing prep work, help get everything set up for the day.” For many families in the area, working at The Kiltie has become a tradition.

“There’s some people whose parents have worked here, even grandparents,” said Roraff. It’s this family atmosphere that keeps both workers and customers returning year after year.
In addition to its family connections, The Kiltie is well-loved for its unique menu items, including brats that you can only find at the drive-in.
“I love to have our Kiltie brats because you can only get them here,” said Roraff. Their custard, cheese curds, and corn dogs are also fan favorites.
The Kiltie operates seasonally, opening in the spring and summer before closing for the winter. Roraff explains that when the flags come down, it signals the end of the season.
The drive-in will reopen in the spring, much to the excitement of the community.
