The Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs are set to face off for Super Bowl LIX. The game is set to be held on Sunday, February 9th at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans. It is scheduled to air at 5:30 p.m. CT on Fox.

This previous Sunday, the teams slated to meet in the 2025 Super Bowl were decided. First, the Philadelphia Eagles clinched a decisive victory over the Washington Commanders with a 55-23 win. Later in the day, the Buffalo Bills fought the Kansas City Chiefs in a close game that ended with a narrow 32-29 victory for the Chiefs. This marks the fifth Super Bowl appearance by the Chiefs in the past six years. Additionally, Chiefs’ starting quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, will be appearing in his fifth Super Bowl this February. This lands Mahomes among an elite class of quarterbacks, as he is one of only three to ever appear in five Super Bowls. As of 2025, Mahomes is tied with John Elway, who spent his entire career playing with the Denver Broncos. Beating both Mahomes and Elway is Tom Brady, who has appeared in an incredible ten Super Bowls (Of which he won seven).

The Eagles-Chiefs Super Bowl match up might feel a bit like deja-vu. In 2023, Super Bowl LVII also saw the Chiefs and the Eagles square off. Hardcore fans will remember the Arizona hosted Super Bowl as being a very close game. At the start of the game, Philadelphia was favored to win by half a point. Fortunately for Kansas City, Harrison Butler scored a game-winning field goal that led the Chiefs to a 38-35 victory. That same year, Mahomes proudly took home the MVP award for the first time in his career.

Despite this recent history, many Eagles fans are optimistic. This year, the Eagles have combined their strong defense with a powerful running game. They have shown time and time again that they are fully capable of wearing down their opponents. Eagles’ quarterback Jalen Hurts has not had as many opportunities to show off a solid passing game, but his statistics have been solid all season long. Since the team’s bye week in early October, Hurts has only given the ball away three times. There’s plenty of space for the Eagles to surprise and show off some offensive work that hasn’t been seen much this season.

The Chiefs are also walking into the game with confidence. Their rich history with Super Bowls in the past several years shows that they are well-suited for the challenge. Mahomes’ QBR has dropped since Super Bowl LVII, falling from 79.0 to 67.7. However, the Chiefs’ defense has remained strong and has consistently brought the team to victory against the toughest offensive battles.

Super Bowl LIX will be the thirteenth time that New Orleans has hosted the Super Bowl. Longtime Packer fans may remember Super Bowl XXXII, in which the Green Bay Packers found victory in New Orleans against the New England Patriots. Before the Packer’s loss to the Eagles at the start of the playoffs, many had been hopeful that the green and gold would once again be successful in the Big Easy. Still, Wisconsin football fans can look ahead to this April, when the NFL draft is set to be held in Green Bay. This will mark the first time that Green Bay has had the honor of hosting, an event which many are eagerly looking forward to.
