The Holy Hill skeletons have become an annual tradition celebrating the Halloween season. For 2025, they decided to go big and show off their patriotism with a display honoring America’s 250th anniversary.
For the past 26 years, a local Hubertus man has been transforming his yard into a spooky work of art.
The man behind the yearly display is Jimmy Zamzow, a long time resident of the area who clearly has fun celebrating Halloween and coming up with new, innovative ways to show off his holiday “spirit”.
Every year, Zamzow puts up a horde of plastic skeletons, who take over his yard in fun ways that are clearly meant to be funny and entertaining. Zamzow’s passion is evidenced through the intelligent design, usually surrounding a fun theme.
This year, his American theme is a way to honor the country. The skeletons are each completely decked out in red, white, and blue. Some of this year’s skeletons look a little familiar, as they portray the ghostly remains of famous figures. A skeletal Elvis Presley can be found performing to a crowd of his die hard fans. A skeleton version of Evil Knievel is riding a flag adorned motorcycle as he attempts to “jump” a parked pickup truck.
An enormous State of Liberty with a skull for a face presides over a whole host of other patriotic skeletons. Another skeleton, wearing a Rothco flight crew uniform, salutes Lady Liberty from a distance.
Last year, Zamzow themed his skeletal display to a “high skull reunion”, including a line of skeletons wearing cheerleading uniforms who were motorized so that, pompoms in hand, they performed ‘the wave’.
Other previous years’ themes include all of the skeletons riding bikes, playing music and celebrating their special season at a dance hall, and a ‘Surfing USA’ theme that placed all of the skeletons at the beach. The year Zamzow married his wife, Sandi, the theme was “Till Death Do Us Part”.
Before the Halloween season comes to a close, a visit to see the skeletons leads to a fun drive through the beautiful Holy Hill area. As Zamzow himself states, the “Colors out by Holy Hill are getting real close to full peak. And the colors at the display this year are red, white, and blue.”
To see the skeletons, they are located at 5256 State Road 167, Hubertus, WI.
