Perhaps there was nobody more excited about the Brewers’ record setting winning streak than the team at Inclusion Coffee Company.
In honor of the team winning 12 games in a row (Which would later turn into a 13 game win streak), Inclusion Coffee Company in Hartland gave away free coffee to their first 100 visitors.
The only rule? In order to receive a free beverage, customers had to be wearing some kind of Brewers gear. Whether it was a shirt, hat, or some other fun piece of merch, it was a way for people to show off their local pride.
In fact, the date of the Brewers 12th consecutive victory, Inclusion Coffee shut down early. That was when the staff held their annual trip to American Family Field to watch the Brewers play.
The yearly tradition gives the staff a special chance to step away from work for a day and spend time relaxing and bonding at the Brewer game.
Inclusion is all about bonding and building meaningful relationships. It’s also about building independence.
The coffee shop hires neurodiverse individuals so that they can build skills, learn through hands on experiences, and get involved in their community. From crafting drinks and making sandwiches to having positive interactions with customers, Inclusion gives so many people the chance to grow.
More than 50% of the staff at Inclusion are neurodiverse individuals. It allows them to have new and wonderful opportunities in a caring environment.
The shop was created by a life long Lake Country resident, Mackenzie Edinger. She graduated from Kettle Moraine High School and received a degree in Early Childhood and Special Education from the University of Wisconsin- Whitewater. She would go on to receive a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Wisconsin- Madison in 2022.
Mackenzie created Inclusion shortly after receiving her Master’s as a way to serve her community and build a space dedicated to inclusivity.
Since opening in 2022, the shop has grown substantially. They now offer services like catering, special drinks, and an ever-growing menu that is filled with delicious, made to order choices. The coffee, bakery, meats, and cheeses are all local, giving the shop even more local pride.
As the Brewers continue their successful season, some of their biggest support comes from Lake Country’s always-positive Inclusion Coffee Company.
