Ixonia Elementary School has selected a new individual, Sarah Lang, to take over the role of principal at the school. Lang had formerly served as a curriculum coordinator in the Oconomowoc Area School District. The position was initially offered to Lang several weeks ago. At a school board meeting on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, the OASD School Board officially approved her change of roles. Due to the new staffing change, the district has informed parents and the community that Lang will begin work as the school’s principal on Monday, March 31.

In a post from the district’s website, Lang stated:

“I am honored to join the Ixonia Elementary School community as principal and am eager to collaborate and work alongside the students, staff, and families to build upon the already strong foundation. Over the last two months as an interim co-principal, I have been overwhelmingly impressed by the Ixonia community’s commitment to fostering a vibrant learning environment where all students can grow and thrive.”

Lang holds a Bachelor’s degree in elementary education, which she earned at UW-Stevens Point. She also has a Master’s degree in literacy from Concordia University Wisconsin. At CUW, Lang went through the educational administration and leadership program.

The new principal has a long history with Oconomowoc area schools. She first began working with the OASD in 2009. Initially, her role was as a sixth grade teacher at Nature Hill Intermediate School, one of the district’s two intermediate schools. Shortly after taking on this position, Lang began working with elementary level students. She took on a new role at Greenland Elementary School, this time working more specifically as a reading specialist. This brought Lang into the fold of OASD’s five elementary schools. Among these are Greenland Elementary, Ixonia Elementary, Meadows View Elementary, Park Lawn Elementary, and Summit Elementary.

Lang found great success working alongside her elementary level students. After working as the reading specialist for some time, she eventually became the curriculum coordinator. This was a title she proudly held for eleven years. During these years, she also shared her skills in various other short-term roles within the district. Some of these include Interim Associate Principal at Silver Lake Intermediate School, Principal of the Ocon Virtual Learning Community, and Interim Co-Principal at Ixonia Elementary School.

The Superintendent of the Oconomowoc Area School District praised the new principal, saying “Sarah has had a tremendous impact on our school district in her role as a curriculum and instruction coordinator, and she is uniquely equipped to lead Ixonia Elementary School.  I am excited for the Ixonia community as they continue on our journey to becoming an unrivaled learning community under Sarah’s guidance.”
