On Monday, July 7, Lake Country Cakes opened its doors for business. Its grand opening marks the completion on its founder, Rebecca’s, childhood dream. Located right off of the intersection of Good Hope Road and Main Street in Lannon, Lake Country Cakes is the brand new bakery serving up treats that taste as good as they look.
When Rebecca was 12 years old, she knew that she wanted to be a baker. As all soon-to-be great bakers do, she started from scratch. She spent years developing her skills, tasting new recipes, and testing out techniques so that she could be the very best at her craft. She also spent time learning from her Grandfather, who gave her important tips that made her work stand out. Eventually, she would go from being self taught to a certified pro, and attended school to refine her baking.
For the past few years, Rebecca has worked from her home, raising her two amazing children while also fulfilling dozens of custom orders. She is always incredibly busy, as her cupcakes and cakes are always in high demand. The new bakery is attached to her home, meaning that she never has to be too far from her family. It gives her the chance to do what she loves, while being close to the people she loves.
Lake Country Cakes is loaded with charm. It has a relaxed, coxy vibe while also being gorgeously decorated. It is colorful, unique, and distinctly the vision of someone who truly loves to bake. From macaron ornaments to frosting framed mirrors, the decorations make it feel like a whimsical wonderland. The large wall of white and gold roses is a remnant from her wedding, a photo wall that she reused to make her busines feel bright and colorful. The large cake located on the shelf just beside it is a replica of her very own wedding cake.
Just one look at this cake tells you everything you need to know about how talented Rebecca is. Her decorating skills are masterful, and she says that it’s only getting better: “It’s cool to look back and see how I’ve improved even in the past year.” The real star of the show is the flavor. Lake Country Cakes is delicious. Their standards, like vanilla, chocolate, and lemon are busting with flavor. According to Rebecca, one of her favorite things she makes are her mini French Silk pies, which are irresistably delectable. Rebecca understands how to make chocolate unforgettable. She also sells kid friendly favorites, like cookies and cake pops, which are the perfect treat for little hands or those on the go.
Lake Country Cakes is a small business, but they’ve got big things ahead of them.
