The world of stand-up comedy is starting to make a name for itself in Lake Country. On Saturday, March 1, Lake Country Comedy will hold a performance featuring a lineup of renowned comedians. Three comedians are primarily being promoted, including Peter Lipsey, Matthew Burger, and Greg Schwem. The event will be held at American Legion Post No. 196 in Delafield. Doors are set to open at 7 p.m., with the show beginning at 8 p.m. Advance tickets for the evening are $17, but will be $20 at the door.

Greg Schwem is headlining the comedy showcase for the evening. Greg previously worked as a news reporter in Palm Beach, Florida until he decided to follow his dream of making people laugh. He then moved back to his hometown of Chicago, where he began working on his act at various comedy clubs. He has been writing a nationally syndicated comedy column called “Humor Hotel” for the Tribune Content Agency since 2010. He also formed Comedy With A Byte, Inc. and has written a book, Turning Gut Punches Into Punch Lines.

“Humor, like music or sports, brings people together. Humor fosters communication. Humor motivates and humor is memorable.” Says Greg about his passion for comedy.

Also hailing from Chicago, Peter Lipsey has been working in comedy for over 35 years. His major claim to fame is being considered the 87th Funniest Comedian in the Country. The “very funny” Matthew Burger will also perform.

The comedy showcase is being hosted by a Delafield resident, Gerry Grothues. This Lake Country local has performed at highly acclaimed venues such as the Kenosha Comedy Club and Chicago’s Laugh Factory.

Lake Country Comedy aims to bring high quality, entertaining comedy shows to the area. It is a unique experience for locals who are looking for a way to unwind after a long week. This is not the only comic event available to those in Lake Country. The Milwaukee Improv, located at the Corners of Brookfield, features weekly shows from visiting comics. In the coming week, the Improv will host a variety of different stand-up acts including 7 shows from Nurse John, a show from Cindy Kaza, and a weekend of shows by Donnell Rawlings. The Improv has given comedy fans another place to enjoy some chuckles without having to travel far.
