Lake Country Fourth of July 2026: Fireworks, parades, duck races and lake events

Lake Country residents will have plenty of ways to celebrate the Fourth of July in 2026, from large community fireworks shows to lakefront traditions built around boats, paddles and rubber ducks.

This year’s holiday carries extra significance because July 4, 2026, marks the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Several Waukesha County communities are pairing their usual Independence Day events with America 250 celebrations.

Oconomowoc

Oconomowoc’s 250th Independence Day Celebration runs July 3 and 4, according to Travel Wisconsin.

The Independence Day Parade is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Friday, July 3. The Oconomowoc Rotary lists the route as Lisbon Road to Lake Road, Wisconsin Avenue, Walnut Street, Oakwood Avenue and Fowler Park.

A bandshell concert featuring “Ain’t That America,” a John Mellencamp tribute band, is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Friday. Fireworks are planned over Fowler Lake at dark Saturday, July 4.

Pewaukee

Pewaukee’s 2026 celebration marks both America’s 250th anniversary and the Village of Pewaukee’s 150th anniversary, according to the City of Pewaukee.

The weekend begins Friday, July 3, with a Village of Pewaukee 150th anniversary drone show at dusk over Pewaukee Lake.

Saturday, July 4, includes a bicycle decorating contest at 9:45 a.m., the downtown Pewaukee parade at 3 p.m., the Pewaukee Rubber Duck Race at 4 p.m. at Koepp Park, a Pewaukee Lake Water Ski Club show at 6 p.m. and fireworks over Pewaukee Lake at dusk.

The Pewaukee Duck Race is a fundraiser benefiting Pewaukee Parks and Recreation. Organizers say up to 2,000 rubber ducks will race along a 300-foot course in the Pewaukee River, with prizes for the first ducks to reach the finish.

Delafield

Delafield’s Independence Day events are split between July 3 and July 4.

The Nagawicka Lake boat parade is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Friday, July 3, with fireworks to follow at dusk. The Delafield Chamber of Commerce lists fireworks on Lake Nagawicka from 9:15 to 10 p.m., launched from St. John’s Island.

The Delafield American Legion’s Fourth of July Community Parade is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, July 4. The parade begins at the City Hall parking lot on Oneida Street, continues north on Oneida, east on Main Street and south to American Legion Post 196 at 333 N. Lapham Peak Road, according to event information shared by the Delafield American Legion.

After the parade, the American Legion Honor Guard is expected to hold a short ceremony, with decorated bicycle judging and complimentary hot dogs, root beer and ice cream available while supplies last.

Sussex

Sussex is expanding its usual children’s parade into a community walking parade for America’s 250th birthday, according to the Village of Sussex.

Participants can line up at 9:15 a.m. Saturday, July 4, in the Civic Center parking lot. The parade starts at 9:30 a.m. and travels west on Main Street to The Grove at Village Park. Ice cream, playground time and splash pad activities are planned at 10 a.m.

Sussex-Lisbon fireworks are scheduled later that night at Village Park. Patriotic background music begins at 9 p.m., and the fireworks display is scheduled for 9:20 p.m. The village says the full display can be viewed from the hill in front of The Ridge Pavilion.

Waukesha

The City of Waukesha will hold its Independence Day fireworks and Neighborhood Beer Garden from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday, July 3, at Lowell Park, 2201 Michigan Ave. Fireworks are scheduled for 9:30 p.m., with a rain date of July 11.

The city also plans a 5:45 p.m. flag dedication and tree planting July 3 to recognize 100 years of the Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department, 130 years of Waukesha and 250 years of the United States.

Waukesha’s America250 parade is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, July 4, in downtown Waukesha. The route begins on Barstow Street at the Lee Sherman Dreyfus State Office Building, continues down Main Street, turns onto Maple Avenue and ends at Wisconsin Avenue.

Okauchee Lake

Okauchee Lake fireworks are scheduled for Saturday, July 4, at dusk, with the display launched from Island Park between the Golden Mast and The Hideaway Bar & Grill, according to the Okauchee Lake Management District.

A Lake Country Family Fun event listing also notes a Venetian Night lighted boat parade before the fireworks, with boats expected to meet at Party Island at 8 p.m. and leave at 8:30 p.m.

Lac La Belle

The Village of Lac La Belle says its 2026 fireworks will be held around 9:30 p.m. Saturday, July 4.

North Lake

North Lake fireworks are scheduled for the evening of Saturday, July 4. Lake Country Family Fun lists the event from 9 to 9:30 p.m. and notes that 2026 will be the 44th year for fireworks and flares on North Lake.

Lake Keesus

The Lake Keesus Association plans its Fourth of July parade and picnic Saturday, July 4. The parade begins at 10:30 a.m. and is followed by a picnic with hot dogs, chips and beverages, according to the association’s events page and a Lake Country Family Fun listing.

Lower Nemahbin Lake

A reader-submitted flyer from the Lower Nemahbin Lake Association lists the annual Fourth of July paddle race for 11 a.m. Saturday, July 4, at the south end of Lower Nemahbin Lake. The flyer says all are welcome, with free T-shirts and prizes while supplies last. The listed rain date is the following Saturday at 11 a.m.

The Lower Nemahbin Lake Association’s events page also lists its annual Fourth of July Paddle Race, starting at the south end of the lake in Breen’s Bay.

Stone Bank

Stone Bank Community Park lists its July 4 parade as a local tradition, with the parade starting at 11 a.m. The Town of Merton approved the Stone Bank Community Connect Fourth of July Parade at its May 26 meeting, according to town meeting minutes.

Old World Wisconsin

Old World Wisconsin in Eagle will hold Independence Day Weekend programming from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 4 and 5.

The Wisconsin Historical Society says the event marks both America’s 250th birthday and Old World Wisconsin’s 50th anniversary. Activities include historic baseball, pie-eating contests, wagon rides, music, performances, patriotic festivities and access to the site’s new Welcome Center.

Upper Nemahbin

Upper Nemahbin Lake’s annual fireworks are scheduled for July 11, the weekend after Independence Day. The Upper Nemahbin Lake Management District lists its 2026 fireworks show for July 11.
