LCCA To Reconsider TPUSA Proposal at Board Meeting
October 14, 2025

The Lake Country Classical Academy is reconsidering its decision to ban students from starting a Turning Point USA chapter at their school.

Last week, LCCA’s Principal, Mrs. Hagedorn, announced that the school wouldn’t allow a TPUSA chapter but would allow students the opportunity to start their own club. After this announcement, the story went viral on social media, leading to influential individuals including former Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker to voice their opposition.

Former Governor Walker stated that he would “fight” for students, and that he had “just reached out to several board members at LCCA to get the charter approved”.

Now, the school board is posed to rediscuss the issue at their upcoming meeting on Wednesday, October 15.

In a drafted letter to LCCA parents from the Board, the Directors decided to acknowledge the incident and how it has garnered attention on social media platforms. The letter then goes on to state:

“First, I would like to make it clear that the current language in our LCCA Family Handbook is consistent with that of the Hillsdale Model Family Handbook. That is, consistent with Hillsdale guidance, LCCA has chosen not to align with outside political religious, ideological, etc. groups. Also, it should be noted that the LCCA Handbook is approved by the LCCA Board annually and provided to parents.

Over the last several days, we have been in close consultation with our internal and external resources. After discussion, we have concluded that our current policy warrants further review to enhance clarity. The review and approval process, to the extent needed, will take some time to complete. However, we are confident, following the review and clarification, that a TPUSA chapter can be accommodated. We ask that you allow us some time to accomplish this work, and we commit to communicating with you in short order about a revised policy.

Please understand that the overlapping values between LCCA and TPUSA were never in question. This was only about the interpretation and execution of an existing policy that has been in place since the school’s establishment and designed to provide a stable educational and social environment for students.”

Approval of a TPUSA chapter will be clarified after the Board Meeting this week.
