For those looking for a great way to spend a Wednesday afternoon, the Menomonee Falls farmers market is the place to be.

The Village of Menomonee Falls has heavily invested in its downtown area over the past few years. In Spring of 2023, they opened a new park and splash pad, which take up nearly 12,000 sq. ft. of land. New businesses have opened up near the intersection of Appleton Ave. and Main St., including a new bookstore, Epilogue Books, and a laser engraver, JW Designs and Components.

When the new park opened, a paved space nearby was intended to be used for community events. The Optimist Club’s popcorn wagon is typically parked there, open most days during the summer 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. There are plenty of chairs, tables, and comfortable seating areas available there.

However, on Wednesdays, the lovely and artistic space is filled with some of the area’s most beloved vendors.

From 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. every Wednesday, the Menomonee Falls Farmers market is an incredible midweek stop. Its smaller size makes it easily walkable, and plenty of nearby parking at North Middle School makes the event accessible for those with mobility concerns.

Fresh produce like strawberries, tomatoes, and flower bouquets are available from several vendors. Farm fresh packaged meats and amish butter are also available for those with a more carnivorous appetite. Other places sell crafts, beads, and embroidered shoe laces.

On hot days, attendees can’t help but stop by Froyolo Sweet Treats. The pop up frozen yogurt stand sells vanilla and chocolate (With the option to swirl, of course). They also have a bar of self serve toppings, such as gummy bears, chocolate syrup, and marshmallows. It’s the perfect first stop because it allows you to stay cool while you walk and shop.

Another sweet stop that offers up something unique is Cheat Treats. This is the company’s first year selling their products at markets. Cheat Treats is unlike anyone else, because they have old fashioned baked goods made from simple ingredients “Like we used to find in our family kitchen”. Their goal is to preserve the traditional recipes that have been passed down for generations.

There is practically nothing that can’t be found at this market- kettle corn, soy candles, magnesium, kosher sourdough bread, and even JW Designs has a booth. Behind the bustling, energetic crowd, local musicians play a variety of hit songs that make the entire afternoon unforgettable.

For those in need of a mid-week pick me up, the Menomonee Falls Farmers Market is well worth checking out.
