Last night, the residents of North Water Street were rattled by a barrage of gunfire following an intense police chase.

The footage was released on Twitter around 9:45 pm. You can see at least five patrol cars pursuing a navy blue truck speeding down the street. First, the video shows the suspect racing through an intersection, followed by multiple patrol cars. Then, shortly after, the chase ceases, and you can hear well over a dozen shots fired.

The shots echoed through the same general area they did last summer, where many locals gathered in the streets celebrating the Milwaukee Bucks championship when gunfire broke out. Three people were injured during this event.

Sources have informed Wisconsin Right Now that the police were going after a homicide suspect. The suspect was a 47-year-old man they believe might have been Ernest Terrell Blakney.

“The suspect jumped out of his vehicle armed, and an exchange of gunfire between the suspect and officers occurred,” said assistant Nicole J. Waldner in a press conference. The press release stated that the suspect was fatally shot after opening fire on Milwaukee police, and they were able to recover his firearm. Unfortunately, a 22-yeard old bystander was shot during and transported to a close-by hospital for non-fatal injuries.

Blakney was a suspect in the murder of his girlfriend, Nikia Rogers. She was found inside a burning home with fatal gunshot wounds on August 25th. MPD released a picture of Blakney and a description of the blue Chevy Silverado pickup truck he was seen driving, including his license plate only a few days ago. However, MPD is not yet confirming the suspect’s identity in the car chase and shoot-out.
