Positively Pewaukee announced on Saturday, November 15 that it will be closing after nearly 30 years in the community.
The organization was first founded in 1996. Since then, the nonprofit group has been dedicated to creating events, encouraging businesses and entrepreneurs, and building community in the area.
The group released a statement that cited problems within the organization after the 2020 Covid pandemic. Both leadership problems and financial difficulties have spawned a series of issues that has forced them to discontinue operations.
The Board of Directors made a collective choice “that is is no longer feasible to have Positively Pewaukee operate as an ongoing entity.”
In a statement released from the group, they went on to explain that:
“Although the Board is beginning the process of winding down the operation of Positively Pewaukee, we want each of you to know that the members of this Board fully support the community and its businesses, and we will continue to do so in our individual capacities. As we wrap up operations, we will be reviewing how to ethically end our contracts and responsibly refund sponsorships.”
Earlier in the week, the group had promoted events such as their Pewaukee River Partnership to help decorate Penny’s Bridge for the upcoming holiday season, The decoration was scheduled to be held on Saturday, December 6. They have not publicly stated how Positively Pewaukee will be involved with this forthcoming event.
However, the Board of Directors did state that they hoped concerned citizens would:
“Please understand that for all of us, serving the Pewaukee community has been one of our greatest honors. We hope you also know that continuing to participate in the Pewaukee community will be one of our greatest pleasures.”
In the past, Positively Pewaukee has been extremely involved in the community. Earlier this year, they have hosted and sponsored numerous events including Waterfront Wednesdays, Taste on the Lake, and Halloween Fun Fest. They have also been a major part in helping create business opportunities through various networking events, professional partners meetings, and setting up Lake Country connections.
Although the group will be missed, their legacy will continue on throughout the area for years to come as they helped plant the seeds of greatness and were the source of many happy memories.
