Sally’s Sweet Shoppe is a Sweet Solution to Summer Heat

The last thing anyone wants to do on a hot, humid summer day is turn on their oven or spend hours in the kitchen. With next week being the 4th of July, many people are gearing up for parties, cookouts, and plenty of special celebrations. Nobody wants to spend a good chunk of their holiday sweating over the stove trying to make a festive cake or cookies for a party. For those in search of a local bakery that can provide that home-cooked charm that packs a delicious punch, look no further than Sally’s Sweet Shoppe.

Sally’s Sweet Shoppe is located in Genesee Depot, on the town’s quaint section of WI-83. Surrounded by other small businesses such as the Union House and Vittles and Vine, Sally’s feels right at home. The bakery is known for being small-batch, with everything made in house on a daily basis. Part of its charm is its open kitchen concept, where curious guests can peek over the counter to see the team of creative bakers hard at work. There are jars of sprinkles on the shelves, kneading tables, large ovens, and a refrigerator behind the register where you can spot some of the store’s custom cakes before they’re picked up.

One of the perks of being a small batch bakery is that their baking schedule is incredibly flexible. As the seasons change, so do their offerings. During rhubarb season, their rhubarb pies are a delectable treat. In fall, their pumpkin spice baked donuts are a perfect breakfast before a day of autumn activities. For the week leading up the Cinco de Mayo, they sell a Mexican hot chocolate brownie, whose combination of spice and chocolate is totally unique. Each week, they also offer a rotating lineup of cupcake flights as well as one specially flavored jumbo cupcake.

The downside of the small batch style is that their creations are always in high demand. Customers have to be quick to get certain goodies before they disappear from the bakery case. However, almost everything available at Sally’s is a hit. From kringle to cake pops, they’re sure to have something for everyone. Best of all, they have great hours that make them extremely accessible and a friendly, kind staff who are equal parts creative and helpful. Sally’s is a Lake Country sensation that offers more than a ‘little’ something sweet.
