The DockHounds played their first two game series in Wisconsin this past week, after starting their 2025 off in Rosemont. The team won two of their three games against the Chicago Dogs, before rolling up their sleeves and coming back to Wisconsin to get to work. The team won four out of the five games they played this week, meaning that as of Sunday, May 18, the DockHounds have an 8-2 record. They are currently tied with the Cleburne Railroaders for the leading spot in the American Association’s East Division league standings.
The first part of the week brought the DockHounds back to Wisconsin, but not necessarily back to their home at WBC Field. Instead, the team faced off against the Milwaukee Milkmen. The Milkmen are the only other Wisconsin based AA Team, who play at Franklin field, east of the DockHounds’ Oconomowoc location. The first game in the series was held on Tuesday, May 13 and saw the DockHounds win 3-1. The second game saw the Hounds slam into success with a crushing 7-4 victory against the ill-fated Milkmen, during which Brian Rey homered three times.
The third game in the series against the Milkmen was cancelled due to inclement weather conditions. It has been postponed until Friday, August 29 at 4:30 p.m.
Finally, the DockHounds made their triumphant return to WBC Park. On Friday, May 16, the Western and the Eastern division faced off, as the DockHounds played the Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks. The Hounds won their home opener 4-3, with Luis Aviles Jr. hitting a double that gave the Hounds their final push to victory. The day was a massive celebration for both the team and fans, who were glad to finally start the 2025 baseball season together. The following day, the DockHounds broke their win streak, as they lost their Saturday game 2-0, the only game in which they failed to score this year.
Sunday was a tense closer to the home opener series with the Redhawks, but the DockHounds succeeded and their 3-2 victory was a relief. Next Tuesday, May 20 the Hounds will face off against the Sioux Falls Canaries who currently have a 4-4 record. At the end of their second week, Brian Rey sits at the top of the DockHounds’ batting stats with a .379. Over 29 at bats, he has hit 4 homers, making him an early success worth watching this season.
