Former President Donald Trump is making his return to Wisconsin with two key stops scheduled for Tuesday in Dane County and Milwaukee, two strong Democratic areas in the state.
According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, some Republicans, including former Governor Tommy Thompson, have encouraged Trump to focus on these areas to potentially reduce the margins Democrats traditionally hold and reach a broader voter base.
Trump is set to speak at Dane Manufacturing in Waunakee at 1:30 p.m., a venue that Republican Senate candidate Eric Hovde has also used for his campaign against incumbent Senator Tammy Baldwin. Later in the day, Trump will make an appearance at Milwaukee’s Discovery World at 5 p.m., a venue where JD Vance, the Republican vice presidential nominee, also gave a speech during the Republican National Convention.
These stops are part of a larger campaign push with Election Day fast approaching. Trump will focus on the economy during his upcoming visits, while over the weekend in Prairie du Chien, he is expected to deliver remarks on immigration.
Meanwhile, Doug Emhoff, the husband of Democratic vice-presidential nominee Kamala Harris, will also be campaigning in Milwaukee on Tuesday. The specifics of Emhoff’s location have not yet been disclosed, but it follows Harris’s recent rally in Madison. Democrats, including campaign spokesperson Kristi Johnston, continue to criticize Trump’s policies, stating that Harris is offering a new direction aimed at reducing costs for middle-class families and protecting fundamental freedoms.
This upcoming week is crucial for both parties as they work to connect with voters in Wisconsin, a key swing state.
