Waukesha County Sheriff’s Lieutenant Pleads Guilty to Contraband Charges
July 17, 2024

Lake Country Tribune

WAUKESHA, WI — Johanna Grace, a lieutenant with the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Office, pleaded guilty on Friday to charges of providing marijuana and a cell phone to an inmate at the local jail. Grace, 34, is scheduled to be sentenced on Oct. 9 in U.S. Court.

According to authorities, Grace used her position to coordinate with “associates” outside the Waukesha County Jail to smuggle contraband into the facility. When she realized her actions were about to be discovered, she attempted to obstruct justice by sharing internal law enforcement reports with these associates.

Prosecutors indicated that Grace’s plea deal includes an acknowledgment of her obstruction of justice. As a result, she faces up to five years in prison under statutory guidelines.

This case highlights serious breaches of trust within the law enforcement community and underscores the importance of integrity and accountability among those entrusted with upholding the law.

As the community awaits the upcoming sentencing, the incident serves as a stark reminder of the consequences of violating the ethical and legal standards expected of law enforcement officers.
