The Wisconsin Dance Theater is preparing for its 2025 Annual Gala Fundraiser.
Set to take place on Saturday, September 27, the event will take place at The Fish Hatchery in Delafield.
The Gala is more than just a fun evening where individuals are surrounded by some of Wisconsin’s most passionate and creative members of the dance community; it’s also a chance to support an upcoming touring production of “A Hero’s Homecoming”.
Scheduled to begin production in 2026, “A Hero’s Homecoming” is a brand new, original ballet. It analyzes important themes such as the strength behind the spirit of humanity and how love can endure even through the hardships of war.
Proceeds raised at the Gala will directly help to fund some crucial needs for the new production. This include theater rentals, artist compensation, helping expand the touring radius across Wisconsin.
The Gala will also promote local experiences, artists, and their work through a carefully curated silent auction.
Some of the featured artists include Joseph Huberty, a Wisconsin native who has done extensive work for the First State Ballet Theater. The FSBT is one of the nation’s leading ballet companies.
Another artist featured at the event includes Pearl Smith, who also worked with the FSBT and Sadie Curtis, a Wisconsinite and Wisconsin Dance Theater artist.
Following the Gala on Sunday, September 28, there will be an acting and industry masterclass hosted by the highly acclaimed Broadway producer Robert Blume.
Blume previously worked as the executive producer for the Drama Desk Awards.
His three part class will cover important topics for aspiring young actors such as how to get into the business of singing, acting and dancing, how to get a role through positive auditions and scene studies, and how to handle the business aspects like resumes, headshots, and agents.
Blume has worked alongside world renowned stars like Daniel Radcliffe, Dolly Parton, and Reba McEntire.
Since the Wisconsin Dance Theater Conservatory was established in 2021, thy have been working diligently to build a strong artistic community in the heart of Wisconsin.
