The Waukesha Plan Commission is set to review the final site plan for a new 219-unit apartment complex along Delafield Street at its upcoming meeting.
According to the Waukesha Freeman, the project involves two four-story buildings, with a density of 41.74 units per acre. Located near Horeb Park, Moor Downs Golf Course, and the Riverwalk, city officials believe this density is appropriate, given the nearby green spaces.
The buildings will feature underground parking, and the landscaping plan includes plantings along the building and additional trees to enhance the area’s natural beauty.
Previously, the commission rezoned the vacant city-owned land from general business to multi-family residential, but the site plan discussion was tabled. Some residents in the nearby Tower Hill neighborhood have voiced concerns about the project.
In addition to the apartment complex, the commission will also revisit plans for seven residential units above Michael’s Funky Monkey Sports Bar on Main Street. These units, which include six one-bedroom apartments and one efficiency unit, were approved in 2021, but the approval has since expired.
The new proposal maintains the original design, including installing transom windows for interior units that lack exterior windows. City staff supports the project, pending parking arrangements and on-site bicycle parking.
The Plan Commission meeting is scheduled for Wednesday at 6 p.m. at City Hall.
