Pewaukee Family Launches Campaign in Memory of Son Who Lost Life to Fentanyl

A Pewaukee family has launched a heartfelt campaign against fentanyl, using their love of baseball as a platform for advocacy.

According to TMJ4, the Rachwal family began their “Strike Out Fentanyl” campaign at American Family Field this past Saturday to raise awareness about the dangers of fentanyl. This initiative was inspired by the tragic loss of their son and brother, Logan Rachwal, who died from fentanyl poisoning in 2021 at the age of 19.

Since Logan’s death, the Rachwal family has channeled their grief into the Love, Logan Foundation, which aims to educate communities about fentanyl’s deadly risks. “Pills are so normalized, and they look so innocent. I want everyone to understand that a pill can kill,” Logan’s mother, Erin Rachwal, said during the event.

Caden Rachwal, Logan’s younger brother, traveled from Arizona to throw the ceremonial first pitch at the Brewers game, a tribute to both Logan and other families who have lost loved ones to fentanyl.

“He was a built-in best friend,” Caden shared, emphasizing how important it is for people to become aware of the dangers that fentanyl poses.

In addition to the campaign’s launch at the Brewers game, the foundation also placed a “Strike Out Fentanyl” billboard along I-94 to further spread their message. With opioid-related deaths continuing to rise, the Rachwal family hopes their efforts can save lives and prevent other families from experiencing similar heartache.
