Located right on Wisconsin Avenue in Okauchee, Mint Beauty and Wellness is a little slice of heaven. The beautiful, bright building is a perfect representation of the compassionate employees and relaxing, luxurious atmosphere found inside. Owner and founder Jen McCoy Borgerding has created a wholistic, science based beauty and wellness center that offers a variety of services, including medical spa treatments, facials, and massage therapy. This co-op style business employs a handful of some of the most skilled and experienced estheticians, nurses, and permanent cosmetic artists around. Although Mint looks and feels a lot like paradise, Jen’s hard work and endless ambition have been the source of such a successful enterprise.

Jen has been working as an esthetician for 26 years. She also has experience as a yoga instructor, which plays a role in her understanding of how health and wellness should incorporate the entire body. After training in California and Florida, she had a vision of creating her own kind of retreat where she could use her skills. Once she moved back to Wisconsin, she took the time to find the right space that would help bring her dream to reality. After lots of searching, she found an older building in Okauchee that she knew had plenty of potential. “I just knew I was where I was meant to be,” she says. Jen fixed it up and slowly began transforming Mint into the incredible space it is today.

9 years after opening, Jen is just as passionate about her work as ever. Mint’s mission is to fuse wholistic medicine with the very best scientific medical information. She focuses on treating the body as a whole, so that clients can incorporate connection and happiness into their wellness regiment. “I felt like in the past I’ve experienced what was missing in the medical industry was joy and wanted to incorporate what the secret healing and wellness industry already had (joy and connection) into the medical spa industry,” says Jen, who emphasizes how important it is to make healthy living feel positive and fun.

Jen has assembled an incredible team of extremely talented professionals, who each offer a unique skill set. At first, she brought in a medical spa expert to be one of her business’s directors. Over the last few years, the staff has grown, while still maintaining its high quality standards of service and knowledge. Their goal is to build meaningful connections with their clients that will last for years to come, so that they can walk down their patients’ health and wellness journey together. “So much of the wellness industry just feels transactional, but we want to build relationships. We’re all about relationships here,” says Jen.

Mint’s main goal is to offer guidance to their customers. They want everyone who enters to come in and feel right at home, which is easy to do inside of the beautiful, chic retreat. Jen loves teaching her clients about the science behind their health, and works tirelessly to offer the best products and services that will make people feel incredible, both inside and out. She always wants to stand by the long term results of her work, so that her clients feel genuinely cared for. Her passion for her work and its I,pact on the community is hard to miss. Jen’s love for the Lake Country area is infectious, as her positivity and intelligence make her a priceless asset to the area. “I just love the people here, my staff, my clients, the whole community”, says Jen. “It’s the magic that makes this business what it is.”
